[review] the incredibles

over the weekend
i had a chance
to go see a movie
and i decided to go see
the incredibles
all i can say
is that in a theatre packed with parents and children
i was laughing and exclaiming
with both the parents and the children!
the story has stuff in it for
both parents and children
and i could see the parents just wincing
in empathy a number of times
while the children were laughing at just the silliest things
(well ok,
the children and me :P)
and at the end
when it seemed they might set things up
for a cheesy sequel
i've got to say
the baby jack jack seat
had me laughing so hard
my eyes were tearing
(tearing as in full of tears)
plus,
it had a perfect family ending
which is a good thing
right message and all
another thing,
i went in not knowing any of the cast
but when samuel l. jackson
popped on the screen
i thought he was animated perfectly
and i just KNEW it was him
(one of my favourite actors! bonus!)
anyways,
i'm going to go see this movie again prolly
and likely get the DVD and all that
and i sure hope they DO come out with a sequel
as well written as this one
cool movie
haven't laughed so spontaneously in a while
go see it!
bring your kids!
bring your partners :)
there's something there for everyone
who has a sense of humour
as well as some stuff
for those who don't
*wink*

america's dairyland

on the road again
and this time i'm in america's dairyland
(aka wisconsin)
in a lil town called steven's point
and the weather is
nicer than in edmonton
*inno*
had lunch
in the pink restaurant
a little home painted pink
and made into a restaurant
off on a road
i'd never find
if i hadn't asked the locals
for help
:)
nice large portions
hot and tasty food
and definitely a mom & pop shop
run by "mom" who moved here
from new brunswick over 15 years ago
go figure eh?
as i've said many times before
it's only a matter of time
before canada gains it's eleventh province
;P
as i chowed down
on my lunch plate
pork on 2 slabs of homemade bread
covered in gravy and with a scoop of mashed potatoes
i was surrounded by locals
adults
caucasian
and all fairly big
and then i remembered
that there are a number of northern europeans
who settled the area
generations ago
and then
as if to confirm this recollection
a viking sat down at a nearby table
(i was on a stool at the counter)
a huge man
with no hair
and a massive beard
barrel chested would be an understatement
and while he sat there
quietly waiting
i could see him as a huge scandanavian warrior
...until he spoke to the waitress
and i heard that soft midwest accent
i guess i should feel
like i stand out a bit
and maybe i do
seeing as
i've not seen any minorities since arriving
but you know,
it feels comfortable here
quiet
sedate
down to earth
simple
no big cities
(yet)
and hardly any one speeds
tho that could be because
wisconsin is famous for being harsh on speeders
(in fact,
i saw a state trooper
pull someone over
as i crossed the state line from minnesota
not two minutes later)
oh yeah,
and the vikings
can't forget them
*wink*
it was interesting
and i wonder
if the locals were watching me
as closely as i was watching them
a slice of homemade pie to go
(because the lunch plate was super filling)
finished off the adventure
and that's about all
easy cruising
in my grand marquis rental
getting lost here and there
and finding my way
(eventually)
with a lil help
from the compass in the car
and of course
the force
tho i have to admit
it's mostly
the force
*wink*
anyways,
that's all for now
...supper time!
*grin*
