off to central america and stuff

in 48 hours
i will be off to central america
to dive a week in roatan
and then backpack for three weeks
in honduras
(which roatan is a part of)
and guatemala

time has passed so quickly
it's like it never existed
it seems of late
time is even more so of an illusion

the neat thing about trips
and holidays especially
is that they can be
whatever we wish them to be
good
bad
awesome
terrifying
...in the end
it's a decision we make
a personal one
at the moment
in the moment
granted,
getting robbed by bandits would suck
but it would be a great story
after you get home, non?
and if you didn't make it home...
well then it wouldn't really matter anyways
*wink*
that morbid sentiment expressed

i'll stop that right there

this trip coming up
i've decided is going to be amazing
in terms of diving
in terms of the hiking and backpacking
in terms of exploring a culture
that i've not really been exposed to before
in terms of learning things within and without

what will be interesting is
dealing with a certain situation
i allowed to happen
by being too "soft"
and allowing a distortion and lack of clarity in another
to come to affect me directly
the cool thing is
once one is aware of this
one can choose not to be affected
it's simply realizing
that "something" is happening in the first place
and identifying what that something is
cryptic, i know
and i apologize
but that's all i will say for now

i've not blogged as much as i wished
got caught up in a time warp in or after texas
now it's the new year
the eve of which i spent with a great group of friends
who "tricked" me into going to supper
where they treated me to my favourite restaurant
(how sweet!)
and allowed me to order a tasty meal for everyone
after which we returned to my place
to do some listening hands
well into the new year
what a cool way to enter 2005!

christmas came and went as a blur
where on that day
i cooked a nice lil meal for my mom and bro
bison steaks marinated 3 days
fresh mushroom skewers
and thick wedges of spanish onions
all grilled on the barbeque
in the last grill of the year
where the weather was a balmy -5C that night
and -30C the next night
good timing or what?
and hey what can i say...
barbequing rocks!
ANY time of the year :)

relaxing time there
spent with old high school friends
and hanging out with di and her family
(cool people!)
watching movies
zatoichi -
very cool
even the jokes afterwards from my friends
whose poor attempt to make a comparison
between the protagonist's lack of vision
literally
and my own
got a sincere laugh out of me
house of flying daggers -
drum scene rocked
the rest... well...
let's focus on the good stuff shall we?
the drum scene rocked...
:)
and just cool conversation all around

and with all that a pleasant blur in my recent memory
i'm off to the equator
and will sadly leave
this wonderful winter weather behind
i heard it's going to drop to a respectable -33C just after i leave...
what a shame eh?
:)
cheers all!
and if i find an internet cafe
i'll try to travel blog while i'm abroad
*hop* 8)
